Just catching up on your excellent thread, and seeing this comment, and as I have plenty of time to reminisce (currently furloughed), it made me think about my favourite bands / gigs / tracks etc
Band - The Chameleons (Early 80s), definitely worth a listen to if you like post punk stuff. Remember seeing them in the Zetland pub in Huddersfield in about 82/3 and blowing me away.
Gig - U2 War Tour Hanley Victoria Halls - Unbelievably good set from them in a relatively small venue.
Track - I'll go for Mr Blue Sky (ELO) - The kids always use to sing along in the car on the long trips down to Cornwall for our fantastic summer holidays, but it takes me back to my youth in the mid seventies.

I've always been a flibbertigibbet when it comes to music as I tend to like tracks, rather than bands/albums.  If I hear a song and I like it, I like it, regardless.   Comes from years of being a child in a cassette only household and taping the Top40 every Sunday.

Take Ed Sheeran.  I'm not a fan, I have none of his stuff, other than "Bloodstream" which captivated me the moment I heard it.

However, Duran Duran have been a constant favourite, but not a band I've seen live, unfortunately.

The best gig is a hard one, but Status Quo at Wembley Arena, c.1990 was pretty good!!  Didn't get my hearing back for a couple of days!!

Favourite songs change with my mood and the weather.   Sitting here now... probably "Boys of Summer" Don Henley, but the one I go back to is "The Chauffeur" Duran Duran...but the Arena live album version!!

Mr Blue Sky is a cracking tune too!!

Well I was 18 and it was great.

As a contrast 2nd best would be Bellowhead. Folk ensemble band.  Mad as a box of frogs!!

Or is that not "cool" either.  ;)

In financial news, one of our ISA funds, Rathbones Global Opportunities, is back up to only 0.5% off its mid February high.

Is this a bounce of the deceased feline variety??!

I first saw Duran Duran in 1980. I had tickets to see them at Hyde Park this summer :(
Just one in a long list of gigs and festivals cancelled this year - Baxter Dury, Grace Petrie, Elephant Sessions, Duran Duran, Beautiful Days (Levellers festival). We had paid for fast track passes to get Eden Sessions tickets as well but those are being carried over to next year at least. Thankfully we did see Holy Holy (members of the Spiders from Mars) at the Roundhouse just before lockdown.
Once all this is over I think it will be a bumper time for live music as everyone is desperate to perform

"How gloriously the sun do shine"

Afternoon all.   Just taking a respite from the heat, so I thought i'd pop in and update the month end figures.

After thinking, back at end of February, that our pots would take a hammering, it all appears to have stabilised somewhat, surprisingly, which makes me nervous that we haven't seen the worst yet!!

Our overall pot, now stands at £550,637, an increase from this time last year of £28,073, of this £1,670 is trailing salary, and we have spent, in the 12 months to date, the whopping sum of £10,716.    So far in 2020 we have only spent £3,600!!

    This is broken down as:
    DC Pensions - £311,301
    S&S ISAs - £145,237
    Locked Cash - £64,739
    Ready Cash - £29,360

Just need the chance to get out there and enjoy life again, properly.    Our worry is that the UK holiday market will be overwhelmed, availability will be stretched, and prices (although we can afford it) will not be as good value for money (ie more expensive) if the overseas holiday market isn't back up and running properly.

So glad of the lovely weather we've had though, and my Mediterranean sun-tan is now a UK one!!!

Even if full lockdown was lifted tomorrow, we won't be going anywhere until the kids are ALL back at school, so probably not until September.   In that respect, no different to usual kids summer holidays, where we hunker down and avoid the hoards!!

Anyway, just thought i'd give an update.    Keep well all.
