Hello,
I am just wondering if someone can please give me some advice. The pre-school which i had been sending my son to have treated us very unprofessionally and i took him out of there with immediate effect after the last issue. Do i still have to pay them notice when i have been unhappy with their service? they class themselves as a charity and are part of a church. tia.

It's going to depend on what your contract with them says...but my money would be on you having to pay for the notice period unless the nursery agrees to waive it.0

As poohsticks says it will depend on your contract but I imagine you will be contracted to pay for the notice period if you remove your child.
That said if you feel the way they have behaved is contrary to the contract, e.g. they did not provide a safe environment they would have difficulty justifying asking for the extra amount.
Also depending on the amount it might not be worth their while chasing you for the money.
Have they asked for the money? They maybe won't if they accept the issue.0 -

Thank you poohsticks and pramsay. They have done things like compare children's abilities in front of each other and myself, the parent of the other child and whoever else was there to pick up their child. They are after making me pay. It is £75.00 now because i paid for him to go to a party which he will not be going to. i begrudge paying them due to them being unprofessional. I believe they will chase me for money and add interest. This is a place which currently has an outstanding rating.0

Doesn't sound like you have sufficient grounds to claim breach of contract, or anything to be honest. You'll have to pay for the notice period per contract.0

I swear their was another post similar to this a few months ago about a church preschool...
You will have to pay the full notice period.
Regarding the party, you might be due a small refund for this if they manage fo fill his place or can mitigate any losses.
Why don't you take him along to the party?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Hi pinkshoes,
Thanks for your response but too much has gone on and i do not want to see them again. He only started there at the end of February this year. They want me to pay the notice.0 -
If the notice amount plus party comes to only £75 then it must be incredibly subsidised. That wouldn't even have covered one and a half days at my daughter's old preschool. Is it worth arguing over such a small sum, especially if you have a contractual obligation?0

Hi Lilelvis, thank you for your response. He was only going two mornings a week. I do not think they deserve any more money out of me after the way how they have been.0
