System Restore is off by default in Windows 10.
The only reason it's on in the first place was if you upgraded from Windows 7.0 -
As always with major updates like these, you should perform a full backup to avoid the risks of any potential data loss.0

Any idea why? It's quite a useful "go back in time" utility.Neil_Jones wrote: »System Restore is off by default in Windows 10.0 -

Presumably it might be to do with the proliferation of 32Gb "drives" in the smaller laptops. System Restore used to allocate 10% of the drive IIRC and on those that's a significant chunk of the available space when you consider Windows takes up half the available space on its own.0 -
Damn, could have sworn I had automatic updates on only to find I'm still on 1809.0

My laptop is W10 out of the box and 4 months old.
I turned on System Restore when I got it.
The update last week turned it off.0 -
Essentially to SR a different OS build that may well have bits missing .
Update then turn on system restore .0 -
I checked my laptop yesterday (after reading this thread). I have 1903 yet SR was still turned On for my C drive ... however the allocated disk space for restore points was 0%, so effectively it was Off.
