Virgin 100mb+ £18.75 pm Scam.

Looking to change my BB package, I was delighted to read on my MSE mail shot that Virgin were offering a 100mb+ Fibre only deal for £25pm, with no connection fee and a Virgin Reward of £75 that would be taken straight off the first 3 months charge, ie free, making the overall cost of the package over the 12 months contract about £18.75 pm. The 'Offer' was allegedly valid up until 11.59pm 27/06 (last night). I duly clicked through via the MSE link to Virgin where I could only leave my details in lieu of a call from a member of their team.
Well I have just this minute received my 'call', only to realise that this 'Deal' was never available at the price offered, despite the MSE BB calculator informing me that it was, and 'Garry' further informed me that these 'Deals' through 'Third Parties', (In this case MSE) were subject to T&C's, the long and short of it, unless you were particularly placed, at a set time, in a set location, the actual cost of the said package was always going to be a minimum of £29+ pm with a TV package I neither wanted nor need, It's what we used to call, and what I considered the very raison d'etre for MSE to originally counter, a good old fashioned scam.
Now I know and understand what Virgin gets out of this, but when did MSE start soliciting sales leads based on fictional 'Deals'?
A long standing, and now thoroughly disillusioned MSE member.
When did you sell out Martin?

Yes, and I was 'delighted' to be told that I was in that 50% bracket. Which was hardly news to me as Virgin have been digging up the pavements outside the house just recently to install new cabling.
What did surprise me however, was that unless I had been a Virgin customer previously, a connection would require "New work" to effect installation, which automatically negates all and any third party 'deals'. Not much of a surprise really, as I did realise that cable would have to be connected to my house from the street, unlike the more usual ubiquitous telephone line. But this just further endorses my view that this was just a scam as very few households will be already connected, certainly nowhere near 50% unless they, or a previous householder, have been a Virgin customer previously.0 -

So you knew that they'd have to connect you first but you still think it's a 'scam'? Sounds like you were trying to scam Virgin and got found out.0 -
Argument and counter argument that contains legitimate and qualified reason is acceptable. Open trolling and baseless accusations, however, are unacceptable and do not contribute to the conversation in any way or form. For this reason I have reported Colin_Maybe to the relevant authority.0
