Starting to get flies and spiders in bathroom

Over past 2/3 months had a lot of spiders and flies, I don't kill them but the windowcil gets covered in dead flies so I wipe it down, in addition I notice 1-4 spiders on walls at all times so wanted to cut down on this.

Whats good to use?

A cat. If my moggy is anything to go by, spiders and flies are the tastiest thing going :-)

Seriously - this time of year, you're going to get insects (and arachnids lol). Unless it's a massive infestation, is there really a problem ? Old-fashioned fly-paper is usually a good option for dealing with flies, but there's not a lot you can do about spiders. Anyway, spiders are lovely little things :-)

Survey from the US but I'd expect similar results here albeit with a slightly different set of species.

If you have the window open (which you should in a bathroom) then flies will get in unless you have some sort of mesh fitted. Failing that, get some fly paper.

Conkers allegedly deter spiders but that's open to debate. Keeping everything clean reduces the likelihood of smaller insects roaming around which in turn, means spiders lack them as a food source.

    Wait until August!

All you can do it put them outside, or whatever. Assuming you don't have loads of gaps for them to enter the house, it shouldn't be too bad.

Not like our Victorian house; find the odd slug making a break across the kitchen floor.

    I've been Money Tipped!
The only opening I have is extractor fans, where I tend to find them is around the bath, the old boiler cupboard sharing a wall with bath (which always seems a bit, well not quite damp but cool) and in kitchen under counter unit which shares wall with bathroom where the bath is.

Hate those big, long-legged house spiders that can run across the floor too fast for me to catch them. I've yet to find a deterrent for them. Tried the recommended sprays: horse-chestnut (conker), peppermint, tea-tree etc. Nothing works. Once bought some of those sonic plug-in things which were advertised as a spider deterrent. My spiders must all be deaf. :(

I understand they live in your house all year round (often hidden in upholstered furniture, raising their brood) then come out late summer searching for a mate and scaring me.

My bathroom ( and kitchen for that matter) , both have extractor fans and no windows . Spiders have been coming into my bathroom via the extractor fan . I put some mesh over that and that prevented them coming through there . I notice you have a windowsill .
Get some citronella and cover that , also put mesh over window as mentioned . I have been spraying spider spray ( yes I know :o) around my doorway as the neighbours above leave the communal door a lot . I also have a plug in ( pest control 2000:rotfl:) and the spiders so far keep away from that ..so far .
    Hope this helps
