Aedis Building Inspectors unreachable

Thanks chaps.
Grinch - thanks that is great detail. How did you get them to contact you though? Was this just them finally responding to email or you managed to actually get through? "Authorisation"...that's a joke, this is a crisis situation for them and us and doesn't need one individual to provide "authorisation" as it slows everything down.
Myk33 - well done on getting notes. How did you manage that though? Again, did one of them just respond to your email, how did you get through to the other one - luck?0 -
Oh and my council called it "reversion" not "regularisation". I don't know if they are different things but reversion just means we are reverting to the LABC and nothing more. I note some councils actually have a reversion application form, my council is just the standard one.
Are you both going ahead with filling out the council form then?0 -
Also chaps, are you suggesting Aedis is automatically sending notes to the council, or the council is automatically requesting notes for anyone using Aedis?0

Same position here. House extension complete and awaiting final sign off. Whats also annoying is that our LA had not even received the Initial notice from Aedis either which is pretty shoddy.
They knew damn well one of the first things people are going to want to know is 'can you send me all your notes, pics asap', yet they didn't bother to mention this in their vague email. Why the hell not?
Why no updates? They should know people are going to be pulling their hair out. They had two weeks to prepare and that was their best attempt at communication? They couldn't even be bothered to set up a relevant recorded message on their phones. Just some occasional crappy 'PM me' on twitter/\facebook to, which don't appear to give any new info.
They are acting as if we aren't paying customers. They are really letting themselves down.0 -

I maintained a good relationship with the building inspector and he finally responded.
Do you have the mobile number of the person doing your inspections?
I don't have my notes yet but once I do I will start the application."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
I've had several inspectors due to staff turnover, and 2 project managers. All have been helpful until now when all are uncontactable.
Guitar77- welcome to this club none of us want to be in. Agree with you totally. I asked CICAIR to tell them to put regular updates on but either they didn't ask or Aedis haven't done. Bit worrying that folks on Twitter saying the North East office has no banners or logos on the office any more, and Grinch telling us staff not been paid. Sorry did I say "bit" worrying?0 -
Don't forget they should only charge you for the inspections and work remaining according to my local BC.
Yea I didn't argue but my LA have quoted me £1100 - was quite a large job mind. AEDIS charged £1500 however it looks like the LA are/were typically more expensive than AEDIS so I was expecting a quote from council for a figure closer to £2k. so not sure if they have factored this in or not. Also chaps, are you suggesting Aedis is automatically sending notes to the council, or the council is automatically requesting notes for anyone using Aedis?
Spoke with my council, they said they did have a contact however this contact has also stopped responding, whether they get another contact, I don't know. so the onus is really on us to obtain them.Oh and my council called it "reversion" not "regularisation". This is the process and its the same thing, you sign that form you speak of above, then the council reverse/cancel the project AEDIS were working on. then the council take on the project as if it was from scratch.0 -
Hi I'm in the same situation my extension only needs its final sign off once the electrics have been completed. Aedis are not responding to calls or email I've applied for a refund but am not hopeful of getting it back after reading that staff have not been paid. My architect has advised not to carry out any more work until it has been resolved which will seriously hold us up. The local authorities are under staffed and the situation is totally unprecedented so very difficult to get help or advise as it's never happened before. Luckily the inspector that done my visits is still contactable and has copies of the site notes I've also got photos of every stage. My other concern is the cost involved as with most of you we were working on a tight budget and if we don't get a refund we will have to find the added expense.0

I received this automatic email this morning (but can't see any info on their website about it):
"I am sorry to have to leave this message, but head office has informed me about this situation which is totally out of my control:
Unfortunately, through no fault of our own, Aedis Regulatory Services Ltd are no longer able to act as Approved Inspectors. It was decided at the latest board meeting to put Aedis Services into voluntary liquidation, Aedis has appointed a company to deal with this on their behalf.
Please also refer to the website for any further information as I no longer have any control on the next steps taken.
If you are a creditor, please contact head office for further information - contact details can be found at (their website - I can't post with links)"0 -

I read that it is Total Building Control who are the company to take this on.
however I have as of yesterday cancelled the application with AEDIS and now setup with local authority.
Im not sure if my project was to far gone for another private company to take on the project other than LA. Going to be gutted if it means I could have waited it out another few days.0
