Blinds order gone wrong

Ordered some vertical blinds using the recess measurements. They arrived today and they have been made to the exact measurement, instead of a deduction made as they are supposed to.

This means they are dragging on the floor and don't operate properly.

The last email I had from them they claimed they had been made correctly to the measurement given, 2070mm. If you add everything up it totals 2070mm.

The previous slats for the same window were 38mm shorter.

They have said they would look into a price for replacement slats, but my view is if they deducted properly as they should then there would not be an issue.

As they are made to my specs I cannot cancel within 14 days which I know, but I want them to sort it out as they have not been made correctly.

What can I do if they refuse?

Paid by paypal.

It really biols down to whether or not you measured them properly and in the way that they wanted you to.

Does the site say 'give us this measurement and we will deduct' or does it ask for the measurement? Im no expert all I see is you saying you measured 2070 and they made 2070. What deduction are they 'supposed' to do?

    Some questions:

Where did you order the blinds from?

What does the website say about how to measure?

You mention previous blinds. Were this made by the same company?

Different companies have different processes for measuring and making. More information is needed.

When I've ordered before you specify recess measurement and it asks for the recess measurement. They then deduct 20mm or whatever for the brackets.

But the wording may vary. Bottom line you need to check what they asked and what you provided.

All blinds sites make a deduction of 10-15mm when measuring the recess. It is the exact measurement when they don't.

I made an order for another blind at the same time, and they are 7mm shorter than my measurement, so they have deducted there.

They ask for measurements, and state they will make blinds to fit exactly, but you cannot have them the exact length of the window or they will drag on the floor which is what they are doing now

What does the website say about how to measure? 3 measurements, then use the smallest one. They then make it to fit.

You mention previous blinds. Were this made by the same company? They were not.

Different companies have different processes for measuring and making. More information is needed.

Standard is they make the deductions, they have done for the other blinds on my order.

I ordered another blind at 2020mm, they delivered them at 2013mm. Why would one be shorter and the other not if they state that they make them to my exact sizes? They do not state that I need to make a deduction myself.

If I measure at 2070mm, that is to the floor. Blinds shouldn't go on the floor as they will drag and not operate properly, they need to be 10-15mm above, which is what all other companies do. They have made them to the exact millimetre over a measurement of 207cm.

The guide says "We will make your blind to fit into the recess perfectly.
There is no need for you to make any adjustments." But they don't as they drag on the floor.

If something is made to fit INSIDE something else, by definition it should be shorter and not the same size??

You keep saying things like 'it is standard' 'it is what all other companies do'

What do the measuring instructions say for the company YOU ordered from, not the other ones.

I looked at the video they have on the website. I wonder if there's been some confusion about whether the op wanted recessed blinds or blinds that go outside the recess (exact measurement). They seem to have two options -

1/ Measure in 3 places for the drop of the recess (to allow for wonky windows I guess) and in 3 places across the recess. Then use the smallest measurement for the length and then the width. This is the option where they will adjust to fit.

2/ Measure the exact size you want, allowing extra for going outside the recess. They would make this to the measurements the op gives and wouldn't take any off.

Op, do you have the email or paperwork which shows you choosing the recess option rather than the exact option?

Did you read the pdf or view the video?

I read the measuring guide, and I measured multiple times.

My confirmation does state recess fitting.

It seems, from option 1, they have not adjusted to fit.

If your measurements are correct and the confirmation says recess then it sounds like their error and they should put it right.
