Yeah so is losing 25 million sets of bank details (as per the data protection act), but I suspect no one will be charged on that score do you?

Yes but that was sent by TNT not Royal Mail

Thanks, I didn't know anything about this & I've just registered my cards ready to buy some stamps Monday. (It needs 24 hours to register the cards to track offline purchases).

Thanks for the stamp tip & the GP tip too! :)
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

A stamp is franked to cancel it therefore if it hasnt been franked/cancelled I would assume its still valid.

show me where it says you can only use a stamp once.

Well annoyingly, I can't seem to find a definitive article on the matter, but since a postman was sacked for removing unfranked stamps but used the fact that he "had simply removed the stamps to prevent them being used again and did not intend to use them personally or sell the stamps" in his defence, strongly implies that to do so would be illegal:

This advice page for charities contains a warning that it is an offence to re-use unfranked stamps:

I'll post again when I've found something more definitive!

EDIT TO ADD: I looked up some of the ebay listings, and noted that many had cleverly put in disclaimers:

It shouldn't have been sent in the post in the first place! I'm not annoyed with TNT for that. The sensitive data should have been removed, the rest encrypted, and then it should have been couriered.

TNT is a courier company (unfortunately).

I have had a similar experience with TNT where a document was signed in Holland, and was couriered via TNT to my work in the UK for the next day - never got there.

A replacement was sent - never got there!!

In the end, the person who signed the document flew over with the document in his jacket. He was furious!!

Hi.l fully understand what you are saying, but l have purchased some from ebay and to be honest you cannot tell that they are 'secondhand'!! They are perfect apart from not being sticky!! How can the Post office prove that they have been used before? l dont think they could?!

There is no way anyone can prove that they are 'second hand' unless the Post office can trace you ordering the stamps, can prove that you have taken receipt of them and then can prove that you stuck the stamp on the envelope and posted it!! To be honest l think they have better things to do!!

Great tip! :T I haven't used Greasypalm for a few years as they don't offer great rates of cashback but will definitely try them for this scheme.

Has anybody else tried this yet? Is it as good as it sounds?

I scarcely think that "you are unlikely to get caught" is a good reason to do something which is at the very best dodgy and at the very worst fraudulent.

Royal Mail is a publicly-owned body so any fraud committed against it is theft from all other taxpayers.

    Not clever.

    Hi there

Are there any cunning postage stamps savings to be had - especially with the forthcoming price rise?

I tend to bulk buy in Superdrugs and then use for postage for the rest of the year.

Two of the ladies in my post office really take offence to having to make up the value on parcels with 'their' stamps to make the postage up to second class (i've normally pre stuck some first class stamps on the parcel but not enough to fully pay for the postage). I always go in politely but they always huff and ouff and complain and last week even said something derogitory as I was leaving. Very unprofessional indeed.
