Erroneous Transfer British Gas

Hi, I’m brand new here and any and all help would be very gratefully received re. This complex situation.
I live in a student house with one other house mate and we are set to move out at the end of the month. In approx. October, our gas/electric provider went bust. It turns it that or landlord then changed us onto another provider without telling us. We have since October received no gas/electricity bills. Our letting agency says that there has been an erroneous transfer and British Has have wrongly taken over our account. They are complaining about this to British Gas which seems to be taking months and months. I’ve contacted British Gas and they have no evidence of a complaint and our flat doesn’t even have an account number. All we want to do is pay a fair price for the energy we have used but don’t seem to be able to do this. We have absolutely no money and will be moving now out with a big unpaid bill and leaving it all in the letting agency’s very incapable hands.
What can we do? :mad:

    MAke sure you have correct readings when you vacate the property (and a way to prove them eg photo showing the days paper as well as the meter/timed date stamped photo etc)

    As you say you have no money to pay the bill, this will help you to maybe save up some money for whenever they sort out your bill
