Gatwick/Thomas Cook: Disposable razors

On Gatwick and the GOV.uk page it says disposable razors (fixed in plastic) are allowed in hand luggage but on Thomas Cook it says no razors. Has anyone had any issues/experiences with this?

Rather than risk it could you not just buy them in Boots once you have gone through security.

Can you provide a link to where you have found this restriction on Thomas Cook flights?

Control of hand luggage contents is the concern of airport security, not Thomas Cook or other airlines. I have passed through countless airports with disposable razors in my bag, never any objection by security.

If razors are so dangerous on board a plane why are Boots allowed to sell them?
  • There is no such restriction on Thomas Cook website - loose razor blades are prohibited in hand luggage, quite rightly so.

The OP has misread or misunderstood.

I found the Thomas cook link unclear so contacted the airline asking specifically about disposable razors yet was still told that this was prohibited, yet Gatwick said was fine. Possibly the customer service agent was confused/mistaken.

Thank you for all posts, I will pack a disposable as recommended and hopefully have no problems! :)

Look at it this way....how do you expect Thomas Cook will know what is in your hand luggage? As long as it gets through main airport security, that is all you need worry about.

Some airlines give out disposable razors in their amenity kits so it's not likely they're banned from flights.

You misunderstood. I didn't mean risk it on the aircraft in terms of danger to others, it was more risk it that the razors are confiscated.
