I would have just cancelled the order once informed of the second delay.

David, if you had been messed around as much as we have been, would you have been happy with £150?
From your description you've had a delay in getting the full item and having to wait in for an extra delivery. I'd probably accept £150, yes. Though if I had had an urgent need for a sofa I would have bought from somewhere like Ikea which delivers from stock.

Let’s look at it another way then....

Your £1800 sofa will be enjoyed for what? 3 years? That’s 36months, or £50/month.

They have offered you 3 months of free enjoyment. Isn’t that about the same amount of delay suffered?

I have looked at it in this same way and also in a way that the £150 covers just over 2 months payments. I did state that it could of at least matched the same amount of 3 months payments, the same period of time we were without the sofa from the initially stated delivery date.

So in that respect we are about £40-£50 worse off. I am starting to think that I vented initially and that it may not be such a poor offer.

Yes, I agree with your point and we did look to cancel and order elsewhere. We unfortunately could not find an alternative.

We did try look for an alternative but could not find one we liked!

In which case the compensation you're looking for in regards to the delay seems moot.

Sounds like a good offer and outcome to me.

Exactly. The retailer holds the cards because OP didn’t want to go anywhere else. That makes the settlement of £150 a decent deal. They could have (not “could of”) offered nothing and OP would still have (not “still of”) persevered with the order.

I have accepted the £150 as they refused to do anything else. - apologies, I meant to quote this under your existing comments.

If you have accepted their offer then that's the end of it - the time to negotiate a higher amount has now passed.
