Misleading BT advertising

Received mailshot from BT stating, on outside of envelope, "upgrade to Superfast Fibre Plus for no extra monthly cost".

The letter inside reads "we've created this exclusive upgrade to Superfast Fibre Plus for £6.50 extra a month" and further down "your SFP offer £6.50 extra a month".

Now, unless my arithmetic is skewed, £6.50 extra a month is not 'no extra cost'. :money:

There's probably an asterisk by the no extra monthly cost, which refers to some small (tiny even) print that basically says if you're already paying the superfast fibre plus rate you won't have to pay any more to actually get it.;)
Phone them up and say you want it at no extra cost and they'll probably enlighten you!

I got same offer yesterday. Phoned up to query why free on envelope and increased priced on the letter inside.

Was told that upgrade was in fact free, but increased price related to the extra offer in the envelope for whole house wifi. Person I spoke to couldn't understand why I was confused - implied that the information was obvious (not to me!)

Got upgrade free. (But starts a new 18 month contract).

There's this thread on the BT Community forum which contains the following advice from a forum moderator:

"I’m really sorry for the confusion, there was a mistake when preparing letters for some of our customers. If you have received this letter and would like to discuss it further can you please give our Value Team a call on 0800 800 150 and they can provide the offer at no extra monthly cost."
