I think this would be best moved to the consumer rights board. I'm a little concerned the OP is getting some advice which I don't believe is correct (and could be costly) and there are some experts on that board.
There is no cooling off period if the contract is non distance (which appears to the the case here). You need to look into this very carefully before cancelling your payments. When you sign anything on premises you lose pretty much all your rights.
These company's are very good scammers, but they are very careful to steer to the right side of the law.
Yes I think your right.
I will move it now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Don’t want to sound mean but maybe there’s a lesson in there somewhere?0 -
Hey all.
The OP was just needing some advice on whether people think she can cancel the DD with them or not without it ruining her credit score and even if they could take legal action against her.
Appreciate its a tough one to answer but rather nasty to be saying some insulting things. She realises she’s messed up, doesn’t need to be called naive. And I understand she doesn’t want to upload the contract.
She was hoping there had been experience of this from others on here that could maybe advise.
Maybe she doesn’t have anyone to ask so came here for help, be nice folks!0 -
Lol, I’ve actually just started actioning it and already signed to an agency who u haven’t paid, this was before this. I’ve been doing this meaning wanting to since I was young.0

There have been many many similar posts to yours on here over the years.
People are flattered by promises of jobs, lured to a studio, flattered again, colourful staff tell you how you're just " perfect".
They then put pressure for to buy the photos for £2000 plus.
I seem to,remember the advice to aspiring models is not to pay a company for a portfolio..
Surely, at the very least you know modelling can be very exploitative . This isn't modelling, it's a photographic studio making a lot of money for photos.0 -

Cancelling a direct debit doesn't cancel the contract and does indeed leave her open to being taken to court for the amount due.
Which is why she needs to tell people what the contract says about cancellation - being coy isn't going to get her the correct advice. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Cancelling a DD with payments outstanding doesn't have any effect on your credit record, nor does the company concerned taking and winning legal action.
A County court judgement only shows on your credit record if the judgement isn't paid off in full within 30 days of it being issued.0 -
Manchester modelling platforms

"Fusion and The Studio Collective are owned by Michael Hannah, who also runs similar modelling “platforms” under different names – Luxe, Kube and Startup Models. All take care to point out they are not agencies, but offer applicants a “route” into modelling. Costs aren’t specified on the websites"0 -

Modelling scams have been around for decades. I wouldn't be surprised to learn Esther Rantzen did a segment about them on That's Life!0
