The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0

You'll have to do some googling as far as the board goes. the one you mention is an older 945 chipset ,I think people go for m/board with p35 chipset- there is a p31 version and there are g31/g33 which have onboard graphics you don't need.p35/g33 are 1333fsb other is 1066

ok,
new suggestion :
Seagate ST3160815AS 160GB Hard Drive 7200RPM SATAII/300 8MB Cache - OEM
LG GSA-H55NBRL 20X DVD1RW/DL/RAM Inc Nero Beige & Black Bezels - Retail
Extra Value Shinobi Mid Tower Case - Silver Mesh Front Panel - With 500W PSU
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R Socket 775 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 2GHz Socket 775 800MHz FSB L2 1MB Cache Retail Box Processor
but thats £238 - wee bit more than i wanted to spend...
hows that? The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
this company does a motherboard, memory, processor bundle http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/bundles.html
the 160Gb does seem small thoughGOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.

I cant find a review of that m/board and it supports new ddr3 memory which costs hundreds and you dont need. You might get a cheaper board but best to get one with independant reviews. Do not trust the reviews at ebuyer I've just returned a m/b to them because misdescribed and it had reviews galore which were factually impossible.
see this one doesn't support ddr3 and is cheaper-just an example not a recommendation http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=6613260 -

i was originally looking at that board on ebuyer but it went out of stock yesterday and has disappeared from their site today.
and i get free postage from scan.co.uk as im a member of avforums.
cool.
160gb seems like enough storage to me. i feel that any extra would just be for the sake of having a bigger HD than the next guy - correct me if i'm wrong. i have 80gb in my curretn rig and only managed to use about 70 of it.The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
My last h/drive was 250gb ,currently using an old 60gb drive in my newbuild but I have ordered a 250gb sata drive. I was looking at 500gb but I'm lazy and keeping it tidy and backed up would be a chore.I hope you get sorted and try a bit of overclock -its very satisfying-let us know how things go.On pc pitstop's tests my pent 3.2 resulted in 97% rankings the new e2180 gets "one of the fastest systems available" but only a 50% ranking I don't think their systems cope with dual core .It used to take over an hour to convert avi to dvd -the new chip takes~35 mins.0

I'd be a bit wary of Scan at present. They are going through big warehouse and process changes and their 'estimated' dispatch/delivery dates are a bit 'flexible'. This has been going on for some months now and I think it is the reason they're offering free delivery in various forums. If you're not looking to have something delivered on a specific day they are fine but if you are looking to get gear by a specific time or on a day when someone is home to take delivery I'd maybe look somewhere else.
