I got my first bill with EDF for 2 weeks as I changed tariff, is £44.72 expensive for 2 weeks, ive given my readings but I'm just shocked, i was on pre payment before. Would are the cheapest electricity only energy companies?

Is the £44 bill for what you have used or what they are asking you to pay as a monthly DD?0

What i have used for 2 weeks I will be paying than £70 a month just electricity for 2 bedroom flat 1 adult and 2 kids.0 -
Put your details in a comparison site. I use uSwitch but there are others. It will tell you where the cheapest supplier is for you.0

Readingcoffeelover - more info please.
Opening and present readings - are these your readings from the meter itself - are they shown on your bill as ACTUAL or ESTIMATED - or are your taking the info from the In House Device (don't !) - was there a debit carried forward from your previous tariff - is the £44 the debit now
PS it's very easy to misread modern meters - there may be a decimal point in which case you ignore the readings after it.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Does the flat have electric heating? Are you on economy 7?0 -
One of the weeks was a estimate and the other was from my reading, was my fault has didn't take a reading at the beginning because i couldn't access my account as itt wasn't live ao didn't bother. My flat is all electric storage heaters which i never use and economy 7.I've switched to Bulb and see how i get on with them as EDF are just rubbish and have caused me nothing but stress for 2 months.0

Then you have no option but to accept the bill.
One of the drawbacks of having storage heaters and not using them is that the day time unit rate is higher than standard.
Get into the habit o reading meters - it can save a lot of hassle.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

To get true consumption you need at least two actual readings. You may not be using storage heaters in June, but come December presumably you will be, at which point the night rate on an E7 tariff might be the most significant factor in your costs?
Why are EDF rubbish? Because they estimated bills? Any supplier not given readings would do the same.0 -
Because i couldn't access any online account and they wouldn't take a reading over the phone because my account wasn't ready i didn't bother hence the estimates. EDF are rubbish because for 2 months of me trying to sort a supply with them i would call them 3 times a day and would get 3 different things said, for me it was too stressful.0
