Hi
Looking for advice, I have received an email from moneyboat.co.uk saying I am in arrears with a debt.
I have never taken a loan out with them.
The email is addressed to bingo.jumbo@email.com, but my address is bingojumbo@email.com
Is it just a mistyped email? Should I reply to say address not known or does this open a can of worms or just ignore it?
Thanks

It's probably mistyped.
But it would be worth either checking with them or checking your credit files to ensure nothing is amiss.0 -

When you say email do you really mean gmail? You can take your gmail email address and add "." wherever you like and it will still arrive in your inbox because gmail ignores them. For example I could have the gmail account loveroflycra@gmail.com and if someone emailed lover.of.lycra@gmail.com it would still end up in my inbox.

Typically with gmail.com the 2nd/3rd person with the same name adds their middle initial, say bingohjumbo@gmail.com.
They then forget the middle initial when giving someone their email address of the sender misses out the middle initial.0 -

Yes, the point is, I haven't added any periods to my email address, so someone else must have signed up with bingo.jumbo

No, don't ignore it. It could be innocent or it could be a sign someone has got hold of your details.
Keep an eye on your credit files over the next few months to make sure there are no hard searches or new accounts added that you don't recognise.

Is it gmail?
If so you are the only bingojumbo no matter how many periods.

Normally they would also write to you if you were in arrears, so if you do recieve a letter, it may be a sign your details have been compromised.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
