Removing defaults from credit file?

A few years ago I found a .gov webpage which explained the process to get a default removed from a credit file under certain conditions. However I can not find this website page today and have searched a few varieties of "remove defaults from credit file .gov" for example, and still can not find it.
Can someone send me a link to this page or provide any more information in relation to removing defaults from credit files please?

What is the reason for having the default removed?0

a .gov website is American, credit files work differently over there to over here in the UK. Advice for US most likely won't be applicable to UK0

Hi,
There are only two reasons why you may get a default removed from your credit file, they are :
(1) If the default was incorrectly added, for example, if the account did not go into default in the first place.
(2) If you have a complaint for unffordable lending upheld, and as part of that complaint, the removal of the default is included in the redress offered to you (this is purely at the creditors discretion).
There are no other valid reasons for default removal unless the creditor decides to remove it as a gesture of goodwill (usually this will only be as a part of an ongoing complaint about something else related to the account).
In all other circumstances they have to show a true and accurate representation of how you have manged your credit accounts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. 3. They company did not follow guidelines and defaulted you years after they should have and as a result of a complaint it moves back so far it drop off.
Probably others too, mostly complaint issues. (you could remove the unaffordable lending part of that point and also the at their discretion to keep it at 2 I guess).0 -
