Nuisance Car

Hello,

On the street we moved on to around a year ago, there has always been a transit van that has been 'parked' on a neighbours driveway. For information, this is said neighbour's van and also legally on their own driveway.

My issue - looking on Google street view and running an MOT history of the van, it appears the van has been stationary (*abandoned) for around 15, yes FIFTHTEEN years! It is covered in moss, mould, rust and just makes the close look a state.

Is there anything I can do to get this van removed? The neighbour has not even used the interior for the whole time we have been here and it is literally sat gathering rust. The man even parks his working van on the street because it blocks his space on the drive :T

Other than offering to buy the van off him I am lost at how to get this van out of sight.

Any ideas?

Move house? you possibly saw it there before you moved in and as you said it's been there a long time, if it was such a bother why pick another place before going for this one you are in?

Hi. As far as I am aware there's nothing you can do just because it's an eyesore. The council aren't interested unless it's an environmental hazard or attracting vermin.

Tell the local scrap yard about the van, if the old rust bucket bothers you; tell the scrap man that you will give him £50 on top of the value of the van, but not to tell the van owner about this £50

    So your solution is theft?

It's not move house territory. It's just an annoyance each you come into the close as it's right on the corner.

When moving in it just looked like a really old van, and only really gets on the nerves because it's not used

Ahh ok, so as in the scrap man would say he saw it on the way past?

Sounded more like you pay the scrap man £50 to persuade him to sell the van for scrap. ;)

Buying it off him is the simplest solution, then arrange to have it collected by the scrap man.

Or my solution would be not to notice it, you can't see it when you are in the house.:D
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

That's what I thought ,but I've got a feeling it'd suddenly be the most valuable scrap van you ever saw!

    Agree about ignoring it.

I can definitely see that happening :rotfl:

I'll try ignoring and hope it's not there for another 15 years!
  • Dont be so sensitive. I expect it is kept for spares. I got an unused car on my drive for spares. My son-in-law has a really rusty Maestro on his drive; he's in love with it and can't bear to part.
