Aerial/drone photos when selling

Within hours of the FS sign going up (and before it's even online) I had a knock at the door from a drone photographer offering his services. The EA hadn't sent him; he'd just seen the sign. We've already paid extra for a proper photographer rather than relying on the EA's iphone (and still can't find all the things she made us stuff in drawers and cupboards). Although our house would look good in a fly-past it also looks OK from ground level.
Anybody used them/any thoughts? I doubt it will get us more more money or a faster sale so I'm thinking not to bother. This is all expensive enough as it is.

I didn’t think it was legal to fly a drone in a built up area?0

It is if you are licensed and have permission from the landowners you will be overflying.0 -
Unless you have a very large plot, it probably won't make a scrap of difference to the chances of selling.
It could even reduce the apparent desirability of the property. I know this because a local pilot has taken photos of our property on two occasions. While some look fine, they don't capture the feeling of the place at ground level and they give the impression we're far less private than we are in terms of everyday living.0 -
The upstairs neigbour of my DM had an aerial video done, it showed off the brand new roof, large corner site and the Botanic Gardens with the river below splendidly.
The flat sold within two weeks though I have no way of attributing any part of that to the video even though it was brilliant!0 -

Hmm, an aerial view might show off our old patched-up roof and the scruffy farm opposite. :rotfl:Maybe not ...0 -
I've seen a few properties with overhead photos, I can't get a feel for the garden from above, but can plan how it would work seeing the norm ground level photos, same when the take the phots from upstairs.
Wish I could be bothered to find one of the listing I saw yesterday, the photographer seemed to be about 10ft tall as all the photos were ceiling height looking down!Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
if you look at the property in the link on this thread from today you will see a drone photo in there.

I know nothing about the area, have not looked at maps or anything else, but that photo alone told me:
- corner plot by busy road (off putting)
- decent amount of land (appealing)
- large extension making that house possibly out of keeping with the rest, particularly given the bungalow next door.
now read the thread - that house is being marketed at +85k increase in 3 years. It looks to be the ceiling property for that road and top end for the area because the drone photo lets us see the area in more detail than google/streeview satellite pics do
worth the money spent on the pics ? who knowns ...0 -
We previously sold with an EA that included a couple of drone photos with the listing. It was included in their fee. The pics did show off our large garden really well, but not sure it made a difference to securing a sale as although we had plenty of viewings, the people that purchased had already seen the house before we bought it and would have purchased it regardless
Don't think it's something I'd want to pay extra for!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

In our current house search I've seen a few houses with drone pics in the listing. In no way has it increased the chance of me going to see the property. Good photos of the interior and the garden and a good floorplan with measurements are most useful, I think.0

If the operator has Permission from the CAA, has correct insurance and has all his qualifications, then go
for it if you want. Probably wont make your property sell any quicker though, more of a gimmick unless you have long and large garden maybe a nice touch on the advert.0
