Hi there

Is this a court claim?
If so you may need proper legal advice (if you have insurance contact your insurer to deal with this)0 -
Where was the bonfire - in your garden?
You need to give the full picture if you want relevant answers. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
How close was the bonfire to their property e.t.c need more info as above, you may need legal advice/representation"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Need more details.
Was a bonfire started and then left unattended.
Cause unknown?
Was there previously a bonfire that hadn’t been put out properly.
Why are you being blamed as a tenant?0 -

1. How did a bonfire start/get out of control when no-one was there?
2. What have you been "charged" with?0 -
What damage was allegedly done to your neighbours property?0

If you lit a bonfire in your garden and it spread to your neighbour’s property, you are liable for the damage. This is a strict liability i.e. your neighbour does not have to prove negligence, only that you brought a dangerous thing onto your land and that that dangerous thing escaped onto their land and caused damage. This principle derives from the case of Rylands v Fletcher. If you have contents insurance, this might provide you with paid for legal advice and liability cover. Inform your insurer right now.0

Did you bother to read the OP?
As the OP started this thread and as soon as it was up Freddie left and has not been back on MSE.
I am not sure what the OP is on about when they say "on day of fire no one was at property" as it could be that nobody was at the OP's property or it could also mean that nobody was at the neighbours property.
I would of thought if 14 days notice would mean that the neighbour must have contacted the OP before this and to confront he or she about the damage.
We all will have to wait the the OP to return so they can update the facts.0
