Dump flights?

How about MSE being the first organisation to stop all promotion of flying, such as the "Cheap Flights" pages, on grounds of air travel's disproportionate contribution to climate change?I want to travel from London to city A on a Sunday. I have discovered that an advance single from city B, via London, to city A on the same Sunday is much cheaper. The latter journey involves arriving at one London terminus and taking the tube to another London terminus for the second leg. So: I could buy the latter ticket and simply use it for the second leg only. (This seems to be what is described on the MSE “Cheap Train Tickets” guide, item 22. However, that item is not very clearly written. It is headed “travelling short”, but it doesn’t describe the usual form of travelling short, which is to get off a train at a station before the ticketed destination.) So: would my journey – which I call “joining short” – be within the rules?
Going from the above post you didn't seem to mind using a few trains/tubes to save you money back in Dec 2017
Why not campaign for this practice to be stopped as well!!!“You’re only here for a short visit.

"Ickle self": would refer to a two-year old perhaps; not a six-year old, certainly not a 16-year old.
Big corporations generally have an awful lot to lose from 'green' initiatives and so the big money is behind the climate change deniers. Having said that, yes, of course there are opportunities to make money from moves to reduce global warming, but most of the groups likely to benefit are not in a position to provide money and influence to support campaigns such as this.0 -

I think she’s a bright and tenacious teenager, partly down to her autism, and she has captured imaginations.
She is right after all, we are ruining the world for her generation, I could cry looking at my nieces, nephews and godchildren and wondering what their future might be like.
I’d hate to be that cynical.0 -

There do need to be less flights happening overall but ordinary folk having one holiday a year aren’t destroying the planet. If the wealthiest bankers, business people etc. stopped jetting about so much and used tech like video conferencing and remote working we could all still enjoy a trip abroad every year relatively guilt free.
Have you actually ever been in a meeting where the people are remote?
Great for an hour or so, but any longer & it gets very difficult.
I have to travel to London a lot - so if the meeting is less than 3 hours, I dial in remotely, otherwise I travel. You miss the interaction / body language / side conversations etc.
I would also point out that a lot of the people who travel for work, are NOT all wealthy bankers - a lot of them are ordinary people.

There is a world of difference between using a proper video conferencing suite and dialling in from your own computer. I have done too much of both: if you have only experienced the latter then you are unlikely to appreciate how well the former can work.0
