Long Shot! Anybody bought a car from CHATSWORTH HONDA

Hi

Last minute desperate attempt to track this down, I bought a car on HP from Chatsworth Honda in Nottingham - they forced me to have PPI saying I couldn't have the finance if not.

I know my HP agreement was with a banking/financial organisation that I remember recognising the name of (as being part of a banking group I think) but I can't recall who.

I asked Nationwide to see if they could dig out an old statement, but after being told three different things, they said they couldn't.

Contacted the current Honda dealer in Nottingham, but they were about as useful as a chocolate fireguard, saying Bristol St Motors with what was clearly a bog standard reply.

So, any chance any forum members here happened to have HP with Chatswoth Honda a couple of decades ago and recall who provided the service?

Thanks!

It doesn't matter if anyone else shopped there or who the provider was.

You need to complain to the seller.

And if this was prior to 2005 then you can forget it.

This is who you would complain to. However, reading between the lines of your post, it doesn't sound like that dealer is trading anymore.

Even if you did know, it wouldn't help. Mis-selling complaints go to the seller, not the provider, of the insurance.
You are very unlikely to get anywhere with this, especially if the sale was pre January 2005 when regulation of insurance sales began.

Thanks for the replies so far, even if they aren't answering the question I asked ;-)

I am fully aware that this is not an easy route, and in all probably, unlikely. However, as suggested within the PPI information on the MSE site, I might try using a no win, no fee service - which I already am doing, and who indicated that they would still look into it, if I can find the original lender. So I am losing nothing by allowing them to do so.

So, the original question, did anybody have HP through Chatsworth Honda and remember who it was with please?

    A mis-selling complaint is about, erm . . . mis-selling.

If CHATSWORTH HONDA sold the policy, that's who have liability regarding any mis-selling complaint you may have, and who you complain to. Good luck.

A "couple of decades ago" would mean it was pre-regulation anyway.

You have nowhere to go with your complaint.

The point is that answering the question you asked is not going to help you in any way. Any mis-selling complaint must go to the seller of the insurance, not the provider. In some rare instances it was possible to complain to the underwriter, but this does not appear to be the case here.

The finance was pre-regulation, the dealer is no longer trading and you really do have nowhere to go with this.

So they want paying for asking you to provide the name of the original lender?
Can you not see how nonsensical that is? What would you be paying them for? What "work" will they have done if you do all the research yourself???
