Parking fine in shop carpark dispute

Hi guys im new here and hoping for some advice. I got a ticket through post as my local shop introduced parking meters which i didnt notice.
After my first fine the shop keeper cancelled it and emailed me saying my car details will be added to the system as a regular customer so i wont need to enter my reg into the shops tablet each time i visit.
However 6 weeks later i got another new £60 fine! Shop keeper said he wud cancel but i got another reminder, now increased to £100, and he said not to worry, he will cancel. Then i got a letter from debt collectors who were now chasing money, £160. So i sent tje below to debt collectors. Could youguys please advise on if o have a strong case or not?

Dear DRP
I am writing to you to dispute a debt that has been sent to you by UKPS Ltd.
This fine was originally made in error as my details had been added to the shop parking system as a regular customer by one of the owners Mr Ali, so I would not have to enter my reg every time I visited the shop. He wrote to me advising of this on the 23rd February. I have this in writing from the shops owner via facebook messenger and can provide screenshots on request.!
When I received the fine, I queried it with the shops owner Mr Ali who advised he would get this cancelled. This was on the 18th April 2019. I have this in writing and can provide evidence. Due to what he said, I did not contact UKPS Ltd as I was led to believe Mr Ali would have this cancelled on my behalf.!
I then queried it again on the 23rd April 2019 when he advised not to worry and he will get this sorted.!
I then received a reminder for the fine and again I queried this with the shops owner who advised he would get this cancelled. This was on 19th May. I also have this in writing and can provide evidence of this on request. !
Then on the 19th June I received a letter from DRP (dated 14/6/2019) saying you have been advised to collect the debt of £160. Even though as you can see, I was clearly advised by the owner the original fine was in error and it should have been cancelled.!
Therefore I will refuse to pay this debt and would like this debt cancelled by yourselves. I have tried contacting UKPS LTD but with no success.!
I am not willing to pay this and am more then happy to have my case heard in a court of law, where I will bring the photographic evidence of my correspondence with the shops owner. I will also be contacting my MP Geoffrey Robinson over this matter as I am led to believe I am not the first person to have found themselves in this position in regards to this particular shop, and therefore this is something his office will be willing to look into.!
I have until next Friday to pay the fine which I have stated I will not be doing. So I would like you to advise me of what the next steps are in challenging this unfair and incorrect fine.!
Regards

Of course it applies to your situation, you are being scammed, for goodness sake stop contacting DRP they won't/can't cancel anything they will eventually give up anyway if you ignore them, they are only after money as are the PPC.
Yes you do have a strong case against the scammers, and their stupid invoice, it's not a "fine".0 -
These are not fines, they are private invoices for the damage the PPC alleges they suffered when, allegedly, you breached a contract they allege you had agreed with them, we call them scams. They only need to be paid if a judge so directs,
Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Have a chat with the shopkeeper just to confirm that he definitely did cancel the two tickets and has added the car to the system.
You may have all this information with dates and exact terminology already, but if there are gaps, plug them. For example, which 'system' was the car added to? Is it a whitelist and how does that work? Did the shopkeeper get replies from the PPC after cancelling the tickets? Best to firm up all this stuff for future reference.0 -
Not sure how the NEWBIES thread is not applicable to ANY private parking ticket.
DRP is FULLY covered with a plea in the 4th post not to start threads about them.
