eBay buyer not collected from Argos

I have had a returns request opened on eBay as the buyer has not collected their parcel from Argos. The parcel arrived back today, unopened.

I have phoned eBay who have said I must refund in full or my seller performance will be affected. I don't mind refunding but don't see why I should refund in full as I have then lost the postage cost.

I have to resolve by the 21st or eBay will close the case (probably in favour of the buyer)

I have checked their feedback and they have 1 over three years so don't think they are active on eBay

Has anyone has this problem and do I have to refund in full ?

That is the very reason I gave up using the Argos click and drop option. Yes unfortunately you need to refund in full to avoid a defect .

I found a lot of people ordered stuff and just didn't bother to collect and as my items are fairly low cost - paying the outward postage costs began to annoy me .

I don't think they deliver in the first place. Anyway, I had the same problem with my package.

    Who doesn't deliver?

I've had this issue but I was the buyer. I wasn't able to get to the Argos store within time due to an issue at home. I did tell the seller to stall the posting but they were super efficient, I did get about 5 messages asking me to pay within 2 hours of winning the auction!

I went today to pick the item up but was told it got sent back after 7 days which was 2 days ago.

Had it not been for the family emergency, I would have been able to pick the item up which I actually wanted. Oh well.

I am sorry for your family emergency, but this is the very reason I stopped offering Argos click and collect.

Seller could not delay your item as that would have got them a defect and have now lost out on postage which they cannot recover. Your refund also cost them the 20p PayPal fee hold.

How would Argos C&C be different from say Royal Mail if a person didn’t collect it in the required 18 days?

It would be different as they have different non-collect timescales.

Can I just wade in here, apologies to the OP.

So the item I went to collect has been sent back because I didn't go within the time frame. When I told the lady at Argos my FM code, she apologised and said the refund would be with me within 2 days of the item being sent back to the buyer (which would have been a few days ago).

I messaged the seller who has now said the item was not returned, that I am a lying scumbag and how dare I message him and ask for a refund. The messaging has gone back and forth and I have given up now. Initially, I was the liar because I had collected the item - he says Royal Mail delivered it to the Argos store so I must have collected; then it was a case of tough luck, you need to chase it up with Argos; to now the manager at Argos being a thief and he/she has stolen the items and I need to report them.

Do I just wait for eBay to step in and look at this?

When items are returned via the eBay system there will be tracking, my returns have always tracked successfully and I refund as soon as it gets back to me. If tracking shows seller has had item returned then eBay will force your refund through if you phone them. I don't know though what happens if item doesn't reach the seller, as a seller though and knowing how eBay deal with sellers, I suspect you would get a refund as long as tracking shows Argos has returned it, even if it never reaches the seller.
