House move did not go quick or smoothly. After issues with the bank and them saying they would only lend if the property was rewired (which we ended up doing ourselves to save money), etc. we finally completed on the 4 December! Only 6 months later than I'd hoped.

Oh no! That sounds very stressful, but I'm glad it's all come good in the end and you're able to get on with life. Moving house does keep you in limbo doesn't it?

I can't wait to see what goals you come up with! ;)
2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)

That's way beyond my level of organisation!

I think that this is a by-product of my previous profession :o You had to be organised ... or you would pretty much be steam rolled by other people (plus this sort of thing is right up my street! ... what can I say, I'm weird! :rotfl:)

    Good Morning!

    It's payday :j

I closed off last months budget last night and I have gone over in 3 areas, which I need to be more mindful of this month. It's more of a self-sabotage thing, I have this feast or famine mentality that I saw throughout my childhood (buying loads on payday, only to get half way through the month and have to start scrimping).

It's funny how you bring things your family members did into adulthood without even realizing it. But, it's something I am mindful of and can change.

in that vain, I have done a grocery shop today based on a meal plan (£53.31 on food, £6 on cleaning items and £5.75 on nappies and razors). I didn't deviate from the planned list :j And I topped up on petrol (£19.94) on the way out, as I only have 13 miles left in the tank.

So all in all a good start to February's budget.

I will do a final round up of the monthly goals after 31/01, as I am running that to the calendar month.

The last week has found me severely lacking motivation. I started really well, but everything last week just seemed to involve hurdles of some description (metaphorical hurdles ... because I am not fit at all :rotfl:).

The wallpaper for DD's room has been delayed, so we are still in limbo with this. Sales have dried up, I have people watching and asking questions, but no movement (apart from the one ridiculous offer I received from someone who basically wanted an item for !!!!!! all ). So I spent last week frustrated at the lack of movement.

I've taken some time last night to just have some time out and think about what I could do to get some momentum again, we'll just have to crack on and see what happens ;)

On the money spending front, I have done a click and collect grocery order for this Friday (£51.32), again I stuck to the meal plan and list. This weeks shop has lasted okay, a couple of tweaks made for next week, but on the whole a successful shop.

I have bought a gift for a friend who has just had a baby (£20.27 all in, with £5 of Boots points due to be credited to my advantage card as I used an threshold spend offer to get more points :T).

£8 withdrawn for our window cleaner so I know I have the money for when he visits in Feb (forward planning).

If anyone has any motivation tips, they will be more than welcome :D

I think the only motivation tip I can think of is perhaps list all the things that are better in your life than this time last year and focus on that....

Pinch, punch, first of the month! Happy February everyone!

So, as promised, I will be updating you on where I am currently at with my monthly goals progress ...

    Completed Goals for Jan 2020:

    1. Completed 4/4 family activities (trip to the park, family swim, family event and a lazy family Sunday of films and fun).

    2. Purchased £50 of Premium Bonds for long term holding.

    3. Sold and decluttered quite a few items - sorry, I didn't count them individually, as I was in the zone ;)

    4. Read a book (The Mile End Road by Sally Warboyes), which has now also been decluttered from the books to read pile.

    5. Worked on money mindset and financial education via informal channels (Youtube mainly).

Goals Partially Completed in Jan 2020:

    1. Saved £117.46/£166.66 into Emergency Savings.

    2. 1/2 Decorated DD's new bedroom (wallpaper delivery delayed :().

    3. Fitness goals have had to be amended due to a temporary situation, and although I did not progress with fitness, I have put this in partially achieved, as I have increased my walking and improved my self care routines.

Goals not achieved in Jan 2020:

    1. Create a jar of family activity ideas.

    2. Pay down the mortgage as much as possible.

    3. Consistently improve levels of income earned from home.

Lots of things achieved there. I bet you got a lot more done than if you hadn't set the goal in the first place. Wishing you every success for February

Thanks SH! I've found the tracking part useful, and writing them on here keeps me accountable ... even if no one knows who I am in RL :D

Absolutely - writing it down and then making it public - even semi anonymously helps massively with accountability.
