Text messages on to PC?

What type of phone is the work contract one?
There is some paid for software that can do this kind of thing properly including automatically updating calendar etc.
Or there are some apps that will allow you to view and type messages on a pc.
There are some free ones or paid for ones that are better, although depends how much you are using it / what features you need.0 -

Is there a way I can send text messages (from a mobile phone contract) on to a PC?
Basically I am helping out a voluntary group who liaise with other volunteers to give car rides to the elderly for hospital appointments. They only have one phone line which is constantly busy and the staff have to ring round volunteers to see who is available. Its incredibly time consuming and chaotic. I've spoken with all the drivers and they confirm they are happy to receive text messages re availability and then they can simply reply yes or no. Using a big computer screen and a keyboard would be much better for us technophobes!
So, grateful if any of the techie people are aware of any apps that could be used for the mobile phone to pc.
Many thanks
Terrysdelight

NB. on PC click the slider "to remember PC" under the QR code.
OK - thank you. I have set this up on my own phone and my PC and it works fine.
The phone that the volunteers use is really old fashioned, flip up top thing with massive buttons. Although, the office volunteers can all use Androids or Iphones. I have a spare android I can donate for office use.
I guess I just link the new phone to the office pc, then away we go. Everyone will assume they are receiving and replying to text messages, but they will actually be sms?0 -

This might be the answer to your problem, I regularly get messages from people I know from their mobile phone to my PC by email. It requires me to log in each day to check for messages of course but it works for me.Trying to learn something new every day.

should work fine with the google message app route you took.
win10 (update 1809 or 1903) has a built in app for sending and receiving text called 'your phone' which does the same thing once paired with your phone."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -

That's fantastic - thank you, everyone, much appreciated.0 -
i would still use whatsapp for the 30% (+) as sms won't be around in 5 years time"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Forgot which insiders pre 1903 beta included the phone feature.
