Text messages on to PC?

Hi
Is there a way I can send text messages (from a mobile phone contract) on to a PC?
Basically I am helping out a voluntary group who liaise with other volunteers to give car rides to the elderly for hospital appointments. They only have one phone line which is constantly busy and the staff have to ring round volunteers to see who is available. Its incredibly time consuming and chaotic. I've spoken with all the drivers and they confirm they are happy to receive text messages re availability and then they can simply reply yes or no. Using a big computer screen and a keyboard would be much better for us technophobes!
So, grateful if any of the techie people are aware of any apps that could be used for the mobile phone to pc.
Many thanks

Easier to use WhatsApp (set up a group) on phones and WhatsApp web on pc"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

or if you still want to use texts you could try the 'your phone' app if you have windows 10"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

If using Android then https://messages.google.com/web/authentication
Edit: actually that's only going to work with one phone.
2nd Edit: On 2nd thoughts that could work since you can send out a group text.0 -
I've got the Whatsapp working on the PC, but 100 per cent of the drivers are happy to use text messages, but only about 30 per cent are happy to give Whatsapp a try -:(
The PC is windows 10, but I cant see how to link the text messages from the android phone.0 -
you will need the your phone app on phone and then you should be prompted to link the phone when you open the your phone app in win10"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Or use skype to send a text (sms) message to your group's phones (you can set up contacts for mobile phones to be in one group to send a common message)
...and use you and group members use Doodle online app to show schedule and who is available/accepts particular journeys.

Which ever way it is set up, the recipients want to receive the message among their regular text messages on their phones.
The messages won't be sent as a 'group message' - they will be specific to the specific driver. Basically we have to check against there availability.
In an ideal world, whatsapp, as a group chat would be fantastic but we are facing too many obstacles. We might get there one day though!0 -
If I set up Skype, would this come up as a text message on their phones, or does this mean they need to install skype? If that is the case, it's not going to work as they aren't agreeing to Watsapp :-(0

If not clear you need this app on phone.Terrysdelight wrote: »The PC is windows 10, but I cant see how to link the text messages from the android phone.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging
Then under 3dots click Messages for Web and use QR code to pair at PC end at...
https://messages.google.com/web/authentication
NB. on PC click the slider "to remember PC" under the QR code.0
