Moving my fence to the edge of my boundary?

I have a newish build home built 2015 which is semi detached, the land registry shows that my boundary is at the edge of the public footpath, in between the public footpath and my fence is approx 0.5 meters of bushes which I have to maintain as they fall within the boaubdary of my property. Im not sure id really worry about security, Anyone could get over the gate anyway with the BIN! And gratify would already be on it despite them bushes if it was a bad area.

I think i would leave a 20cm gap with gravel in to not disturb the tarmac.

Do check for any utility's.
