Moving my fence to the edge of my boundary?

I have a newish build home built 2015 which is semi detached, the land registry shows that my boundary is at the edge of the public footpath, in between the public footpath and my fence is approx 0.5 meters of bushes which I have to maintain as they fall within the boaubdary of my property.
I wish to move my fence to my boundary edge along the footpath.
How do I know if I’m aloud to do this, I’m worried I’ll move my fence and then the council or some other authority will tell me I wasn’t aloud to do this and need to move my fence back?

I know that if you want to erect a boundary fence taller then 1m (I think!) against a public highway/ path, then you need planning permission for this. I am currently applying for said planning permission to encompass some of my front garden into my back garden.
However as your existing fence is already close to the boundary edge, I don’t know (our existing fence is in line with our building line and we are wanting to move it forwards by 4m).
Could the bushes be on the other side just for aesthetic purposes? Or perhaps it was a planning requirement that your fence wasn’t directly against the footpath?
Email your local planning office to ask? We did and they told us planning would be required and directed us to the portal to apply via.

There might be a covenant in place governing the hedge/fence at the front - Check the deeds.

Post link without www and someone will add it
Be careful of removing bushes as people walking can graffiti on your fence and seriously devalue your house. Also easier to jump over and bang on fence.

Personally, what I see in the photo is: A public footpath and open land, a bush getting in the way of accessing the fence, the fence.

I'd be fearful that if I put a fence up outside of the bush area it'd be more likely to be a target for graffiti, random balls being kicked against it and potential break ins. I'd prefer to stick some nasty prickly bush there to be honest and forget the (huge) cost of relocating a fence.
