I've opened an account, can I switch it straight away?

This is exactly (used Santander) what I’ve done in the past for the same reason and it worked.
I switched to RBS on Sunday so any talk of it may or may not say this or that ... I can say for 100% on my switch application it had the box to tick in the event you don’t have the card of the account you’re switching FROM. As I had the card I entered the details and switched as normal. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen that tick box option on a switch application.
What I wonder about is if you tick it to say you don’t have the card ... what happens then? Are you severely delayed?
I’ve helped a few family members open accounts at the weekend with the sole purpose to switch to RBS once the card lands which will hopefully be before the 28th.0 -
Strange one with the RBS application.
I did mine at the weekend. Filled out my switching account details, job done.
One relative did theirs tonight. Clicked the exact same link i did. Selected the exact same account i did (the select). Their details page looked different to mine though & when the application was completed at no point did it ask for them if they wanted to switch or not.
So not sure if they're going to get any deal now or whether there's a process later on to switch.0 -

I tried this, but got an error message saying it can't go through without the card number.0 -
I had this problem. So I just rang them up and got put through to their switching team. Your relative just needs to contact them and give them the details for the CASS switch and incentive to go through correctly.JustAnotherSaver wrote: »One relative did theirs tonight. I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job
