Well.. i attended my first work commitment appointment and i was quite confused as the person interviewing me was asking if i was job searching etc...

I explained to him that i am unable to work due to my medical reasons and it took around 4 minutes for him to pull up my notes and we discussed my situation.

The guy was very sympathetic and told me to come back in 6 weeks time to see how my situation is.

I requested an advance payment to be made on that day and just requested half of it (£150). They still have not made a decision about my health situation as i did send out that questionnaire a week ago now.

As you've only just claimed UC then the decision on the work capability assessment won't be made for a while yet.

You will eventually be sent a work capability assessment form, which will need to be filled in and returned with all your evidence to support your claim.

Once this is received by the health assessment providers you'll most likely have to attend a face to face assessment. During this assessment you'll be assessed on your capability to do any type of work. A report will then be returned to DWP with recommendations in it. A decision maker with then make a decision on your claim and you'll either be given Limited capability for work, Limited capability for work related activity or be found fit for work.

Until then you'll need to send in fit notes from your GP.
  • 6 weeks is good.

I'm just a 3 week switch off on job hunting and a very kind person ended up whispering at the job centre. They wouldn't say anything about the recent zero-hours offering when I tried to ask.

But I've since confessed to my parents and they are going to help.
I went to CAB but found they couldn't really step in until I have an income of sorts for money advice, I'm sure they would be superb if I had a benefits problem though.
  • As long as your GP gives you a note you can apply. One thing though- literally everyone fails the assessment, even if they're at deaths door and unable to move so you'll have to appeal but almost everyone wins their appeal, it's just done in the hope a few will give up.

Sorry but that's not correct. Not everyone is found fit for work. I've been claiming ESA and in the Support Group for almost 7 years. I also know of quite a few that post here, that's also in the Support Group. For those that don't know, that's the same as LCWRA for UC.

That's rubbish. I was put in the support group for epilepsy and PTSD without a medical. Those that can evidence their condition and how it effects them are treated fairly in my experience.

    Why post this nonsense?

Are you trying to upset and alarm other forumites?
Or, like many politicians, are you unable to distinguish truth from falsehood?

Can you post your homework/evidence to this fact please?

    Scaremongering!

I have been on ESA for some years - and passed my assessment every time...the most recent one was done without a face-to-face.

I have never had to appeal my claim for ESA.

I got a question regarding getting an advance payment ...

I am eligible to request an advance payment until 9th july and my first payment is due on 17th. If i request and get accepted for advance payment for full max amount and pay this back in 12 month, would this mean i wont get my initial payment on the 17th and will instead recieve it next month?
