USB C Cable resistor
Hi I am fortunate to have a new OnePlus 7 phone.
Can someone explain what the difference is between a normal usb C Cable and one with a 56k Ohm Pull-up Resistor in it and what damage could either cause to my phone?
Thanks

As you have a oneplus phone, you need to buy cables and chargers(they work together) that specifically mention 'dash' or 'vooc'. It simply means your cables need to be a bit thicker as they will need to carry more current.
Oneplus/Realme/Oppo/Vivo are brands of the BBK group, and the charging technology they use is different from other brands who tend to use 'quick charge' technology. On yours to speed up charging they increase the ampage, on quick charge they up the voltage.

Having said all that you can use other type c chargers and cables, it will just default to a lower slower setting..0 -

Without the 56k resistor bad things can happen to older hardware.

I think I will stick to cables with resistors in them just to be safe.
The cable will just be used will my power pack when out of the house.
