Then need a car planning to spend first night near airport as we land 1940.
    An idea:
Look for a hotel or motel near LAX which offers a free shuttle service to and from the airport. Then pick up the car the following morning.

We stayed at Super8 Culver city, for 3 nights, collected car at LAX drove to motel , free parking and drove to all sites in LA no trouble at all. Motel was idel for us, basic clean, pool and free breakfast, would use again no problem.

Alternatively, get the shuttle bus down to Disney (Anaheim tends to have cheaper hotels than the other tourist areas) and plenty of choice literally across the street from Disneyland. When you’re finished at Disney pick up car there, should be cheaper as avoids the airport pickup surcharge.
