Three PAYG data strangeness

I noticed my data usage has seemed higher in the past couple of weeks, and last night a notification pops up:

“You have spent £40.17 on internet since 09 June”

And then exactly one hour later:

“You have spent £35.24 on internet since 09 June”

Something flakey going on with Three’s data accounting?

Were notifications via SMS?
I have found their SMS service very flakey recently.


E.g. when expecting 3 messages, I had two arrive within a few minutes then a day later the missing message appeared.
