How do you know he isn't a police officer or judge? There are plenty of people with legal jobs on this forum
Oh and go over to Pepipoo if you are unlucky to receive a fine for your parking on zig zags“You’re only here for a short visit.

And any real police officer would know that.
Maybe maybe not, I wouldn't do what the OP has done and certainly wouldn't use I had the kids in the car as an excuse either, many of the Iceland stores I know have car parking or parking nearby.
It could have been the OP's child that wanted to cross the road and risked greater chance of injury by another vehicle reducing the visibility to other road users.
Perhaps the officer was on the way to or from duty and was encouraging the OP to be a lot more considerate.0 -

Nevertheless, the OP said that they didn't know it was an offence. The words from the person claiming to be a police officer have acted as an education opportunity, if nothing else. So that can only be a Good Thing.
P.S. Such parking is a bit of a bugbear of mine, especially when people park on the crossing right outside my children's school. If I can, I have words, or in the case of the food delivery truck the other day, I contacted the company in question with photographic evidence, so that they might offer the driver some appropriate "training".0 -

It's my first post on this forum, there some spelling mistakes that might have caused some misunderstanding, the Zig zag line was one white line right onfront of the enterance of Iceland but there is also a crossing with lights, and honestly no loading bay or even a side street nearby, the zig zag is followed by double yellow lines and it is no where near a school it's a high street, it was the first time I ever stoped and picked someone on a single line zig zag, like I said it was lack of knowldge on my side and I m in the first year of my driving. I appreciate all the information and advice from everyone, even If I don't receive any points or fine this a good wake up call for me to be extra carefull because luck is mostly not on my side best to follow the rules very carefully and will defentily be reading some more info on road signs. Thank you everyone0

I actually was more concerned about the double yellow lines and that's why I stopped on the zig zag, only just read you can pick up passengers on double yellow lines, it's very confusing sometimes when I see info signs saying no stopping between this and that times on the yellow lines. Thank you for the info.0
