Energy supplier billing wrong address, how do I stop them?

  • Another letter from MILCollections stating that details of the supplied address will be passed to a field agent so that they can make arrangements to change her meter to a pre-payment one.

    Unbelievable, totally unbelievable.

Anyone would think they are using pressure to get some money prior to the Ombudsman decision.
  • Just been informed by Shell that Credit Management team have placed a hold, so should not be receiving any debt collection letters.

And, "Please ignore any payment due reminders you may receive in the next couple of days as they may already been on their way to you."

Interesting that the hold was dated last year but that letters may already be on their way. I know the Royal Mail can sometimes be a bit slow, but come on.....

So what the hell is going on?

Just received the decision from the ombudsman, which isn't really a decision. Just says in putting things right that they have had several shortfalls in service and that Shell need to confirm in writing, that it will take steps to attend the property linked with the original MPAN to determine which MSN it is associated with and in turn which property that MSN supplies.

edit: Does anyone understand what he is actually saying?

It does state in the decision that Shell have been billing the wrong property though, so a bit confusing.

One great thing is that all of the suppliers have been contacted and it's ended up with this explanation, what a mess.

Originally all supplied by Shell Energy (First Utility) but various changes from 2010

The flat in question is now called Flat 1

As shown on the National Database

MPAN 2 and MSN 1 and 3 linked to Flat 1 (Now Flat 2)
MPAN 3 and MSN 1 and 2 linked to Flat 2 (Now Flat 3)
MPAN 1 and MSN 1 and 2 linked to Flat 3 (Now Flat 1)

What the ombudsman believes the National Database should show

MPAN 3 and MSN 2 linked to Flat 1 supplied by not Shell Energy
MPAN 2 and MSN 1 linked to Flat 2 supplied by not Shell Energy
MPAN 1 and MSN 3 linked to Flat 3 supplied by Shell Energy

Just one more question, if the decision is accepted, can we still go to the small claims court as the goodwill payment is paltry.
  • Just counted the shortfalls in service, six, yes that's six.
  • Unbelievable, Ombudsman's decision states to stop all debt collection activities until they have visited the property, which they haven't.

Receive a letter from Shell confirming that all debt collection activity will stop until they visit the property and decide who they should be billing.

Just received another debt collection letter from a company called LCS, this is the third debt collection agency that Shell have used, this time flouting a legally binding action by the Ombudsman.

    What can I say?
