in Credit cards
Anyone know which card gives the best cash back at present. Looking to buy a couple of Plasma Tv's after christmas so would like some money back.
Currently have the morgan stanley (egg) card from last year (3%) sadly the percent from them now is not much at all.
Thanks in advance.

Capital one is really good if you gave some expensive bills coming up.
It's 4% for 3 months.
Reverts to 1% after that but if you have some big bills (like holidays) then it can be very worthwhile.
I think you need a good credit rating for it though.
Cashback gets paid in January so pretty good for Xmas.
I've got £330 to come on mine which is a lot better than a £15 Amazon voucher.0 -
Thanks for your reply. Sounds good. I was also looking into the Amex Platinum card (5%) but not sure if many UK shops even accept this. Thats if the card is still available.
Will look into the Capital One card.0 -
Amex is not accepted everywhere as you say.
A further problem is that you might find it eroded by charges.
So if or example you are paying for a holiday then sometimes the charges are 2%-2.5% for visa/mastercard but higher for Amex.
Similarly for people like Easyjet. They don't apply the same fee, it depends on which card it is and you can bet your bottom dollar that Amex is always the most expensive.
I've been on cruises before where visa/mastercard is 3% and Amex is 6%.
You need to offset the higher cashback with Amex against the fact that you can't use it everywhere and that any charges back to you will be higher.
You also need to operate an additional card for the times you can't use Amex.
Depends on how much hassle you want.
You could get both and use Amex where you can, but you have the additional haslse of keeping on top of 2 cards instead of just one.0 -
Once again appreciate your help.
I think the Capital One will be the best option. I'll only use it till the cash back ends anyway.
I'll give them a ring now.0
