Royal Mail Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  On the 6th of November, my Easy Living magazine with freebies attached, was sent back to the delivery office because it did not fit through my letterbox. Fair enough! I telephoned Royal Mail and was on the phone trying to get my parcel redelivered for 1 hour to speak to someone!! I ended up phoning the complaints department to actually speak to a human being! She told me it would be redelivered in two days time!! It didn't arrive!! After phoning numerous times and getting new dates for delivery, it still hadn't arrived. On Friday 16th I phoned with my complaint number and was told it would be sorted that day!! The lady dealing with it phoned me at 4.45pm to say she had been trying to contact my local office (Norwich) but no one had answered. She was going to send an email personally to the manager. Today i am still waiting for my magazine and it won't be too long before next months arrives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else had this problem and what can I do about it? Yes I could go to my office and pick it up, but it is the principal! Why offer a service and not carry it out!!!

  • Because Royal Mail are crap? I very rarely get any freebies that are mailed out to me. They get 'lost' in the post...

I usually do this after all failed deliveries. I never bother "rearranging". Funnily, just this morning I phoned to confirm a recorded signed for item I'd sent a month ago was delivered (it was a broken ebay item for which I was returning for a full refund). I phoned because it was coming on the website as not signed for yet. But the person at Royal Mail simply said "It hasn't been delivered you'll have to fill out a claim form, sorry". End of phone call. So lucky I've kept all my receipts etc and I've been filling in the form and I'll probably drop it off at the post office (don't think posting it myself would be wisest as I'll probably end up losing all the original documents). If they need confirmation from the recipient that he didn't receive it then I'm in trouble as that ebay seller has been uncooperative at best with me so far.

delivery offices dont have dedicated telephone staff, the phones ring constantly so you get as many calls done as you can

you could have arranged online redelivery as listed on the card you recieved.

the item may not have been back for redelivery on the day you chose.the delivery office dont get a phone number on redeliveries so if its not back they can do little buit not send it out.
customer services work to a set script, unfortunatly at the delivery end its not always so straight forward

  • elle45 would not count on it the royal mail are getting worse for their service, collect it in person if you have the time its a lot less agro.

Today im fuming with the royal mail too the postman damaged our letter box not even made any effort to see if we were at home then i opened the door to stop him , continued to push it through the box causing more damaged would not give us his name and such.I took pictures of the parcel in the letter box with the damage caused for proof. They don't deserve to be called the royal mail.

That really is out of order isn't it!! What a snotty postman!! Sounds like he needs to be kicked out of his job!! I would definatly report him!! What is the 'Royal Mail' coming to!! I have decided not to subscribe to a mag again! It will be quicker walking to the shops and buying it! It has taken the fun out of subscribing!

  • Indeed we made a formal complaint and as the damage was caused by a Employee of the royal mail they will pay for the letter box to be repaired. Its nto the first time we have had problems with him my fam member is disabled and cannot get to the door quickly neither can i for that matter. Our regular postie is amazing he knows us well and waits that extra minute and stops to have a natter which is nice makes you feel wanted so to speak. This postie treats people with distain every time.
Dont know how everyone else feels but the service from them is getting worse not better. Indeed Elle you have bought products and goods and to have them not delivered or manhandled nearly destroyed is not acceptable. In my case it was a signed Michael Palin book which would be worth 5 times its face value. If he had damaged the book i would be more livid.
Its costing you more money isn't it Elle having to buy single issues just because the royal mail cannot do their jobs properly.
