Lowell - replicated B/Gas default

  • If they’re reporting the same default date as the original date with BG then all is well

It's showing at 3 separate defaults. BG havent given me a date of default notice but my last payment to them was 2016, two years after the account closed. So when does it actually go? I'm not getting a straight tale.

    6 years from original notice?
6 years from last payment to them?
  • The account should show a default on the British Gas account on the CRA files

It does... and for Lowell. Could you answer my Above Q
  • Yes so long as Lowell are reporting the same date as BG reported then it’s fine.

Which question? The 6 year one?

I already answered that above ^^^^^

Understood. So BG have no idea what they are talking about then, but couldn't even give me a default date. I have raised a complaint. I'm thinking late 2014, I'll keep paying to Lowell and it should drop off next year

    For clarification.

When defaulted debts are sold, the original default should be marked as settled, with a zero balance.

The new owner, in your case Lowell, will then continue to report the same default, but this time with the balance outstanding showing.

The original default date should be on both entries, so that no matter what happens, both entries will disappear on the six year anniversary of the original default date.

If your files show anything other than the above, then write and complain to the company concerned.

I have found the original date 4/4/15 so will be a nice birthday present when it does eventually clear off. the woman on the phone even said we couldnt come to a mutual agreement that it doesnt disappear even asking speaking to their credit checkers.
