Hi
A little confused,
Have a contract with o2, (24 months ) ends 9/7/19. Usually go to paygo before deciding what new phone/contract to take.
Anyway spoke via chat to O2 said i could convert to paygo from 14/6/19.

This confused me as its before my contract ends?
Just want to pay my contract fees until up, then swap to new contract, not paying any more than I need to.

How is the best way to do this, just give 30 days notice now and request my pac code?
When would i take a new contract out from 9/7 or 30 days from when i speak to o2?
Thanks

Your contract isn't ending. The minimum term is ending.

You can't give notice and get a PAC. It is either 30 days notice of leaving or a PAC. If the PAC is not used within 30 days then the contract continues as before.

I would get a PAC within 30 days of the minimum term finishing, pick a new deal, sign up for it to start just after the minimum term is up on your current deal and port the number when the new contract starts. You will have a day or two on the old contract before everything swaps over but the fees won't be much for that amount of time.

With the minimum term of your contract ending on that date, to avoid any continuation would require either giving notice or obtaining your PAC 30 days before then.

If PAC, it needs to be used within 30 days (ideally towards the end to maximise the service you have to pay for), otherwise the contract will continue running.

If you first research and choose the best plan for your needs from another provider (but without yet signing up for it), when you request your PAC you can tell them what it is when they ask, they may well offer you a discounted deal to match it in order to retain your custom.
