Hair dye is my girlfriend. Obsessed with dying her hair red =/

My hair has been various shades of red and deep pink over the years, and I have adorned various surfaces! :p The exact type of colourant is highly relevant.

Permanent and demi-permanent hair dye is alkaline/ contains peroxide (not only in blonde or light shades). Any damage to the carpet may well be permanent.

Temporary and semi-permanent hair dye you are just dealing with colour molecules, and with red they are large so hopefully will not have penetrated the fibres. May come out with nail varnish remover or non-conditioning (clear) shampoo.

Buy your girlfriend an old-school elasticated fabric shower cap (larger than disposable ones so better containment) and some pound shop plastic dust sheets.

Hair dye? I think you may as well get a new carpet, and be careful in future.

Should bleach out before rugdoctor etc.

Well as long as it is a bleachable carpet (or you want it white!).
