Contacts/phone book for android

Options
Whenever I look in Google playstore for an app, on reading user reviews, the first one is always posative, the second negative. This seems so odd.

I'm looking for a contacts/phone book for android with no ads.

No ads generally paid for .

Is the stock Contacts app not good enough ?
  • Why would anyone need to do that?

It is 99% good yes, but too stark, black & white. Unsure if I can change colour.

PS, what brought this about is the fact that when I am out, I find it difficult to read the names etc. (age thing, 80th yr), but someone sat next to me on the bus and they showed me their phonebook which had quite large photo's as well as names, in fact they were three across and four down, so whichever page you were on, there were a dozen to easily view. I haven't been able to find that app, hence thought a colour change might help.

Depending on Android version you can change the display from light to dark via the settings when you're within the app. (it'll still be white on black or vice versa though)

If you tap the contacts tab and choose a contact you can edit the details and use a photo. You can either take a photo there and then or choose one from the phone.

Tap on the favourites tab and add a contact as a favourite, this will give you a big picture as the contact that will be 3 tiles across and 3 tiles down. If you add more then you just need to scroll down to access them.

    Thanks, I have a Samsung Galaxy A70

It's bad enough not knowing for certain which to highlight when it says,

    Save Contact to:-
    Samsung acct
    Phone
    SIM2
    Google
    Yahoo

I'm of the opinion it should be Phone.

As for the photo's, I do have tiny photo's next to names, which half fill screen when using that particular number. But they reduce to very small when not in use.

Contacts + has been installed and it seems OK. Not wishing to be a smart !!!!, I've even done screen shots of locations, ie Dr. s dentist, chemist to place in the photograph circle.

Have you looked at the favourites tab? If there's nobody there yet, try adding your usual contacts first to see if it suits.

Yes Colin, I've now assembled them in order of preference and used a number as well to keep them how I want them ie

    1 Joe bloggs
    2 Mrs blogg
    3 master bloggs
But when I get to 9, I have to introduce letters as well, ie

    9
    9a
    9b
    9c

That seems to cover the most used. The remainder are alphabetical.

I've even used a wall paper for each one so if the photo isn't big enough, I now have the screen showing the image I want.

It's not odd, it's actually that way by design. If you look closely, you'll see that it shows what they describe as the 'Top positive review' followed by the 'Top critical review'.
