Grooves Land won't send what I ordered.

WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP
In January I ordered a Black and Decker strimmer from Grooves Land, who are based in Germany. The item was described as with battery and charger. However, when it arrived it was minus these. I contacted them and they said the supplier had sent the wrong item and to send it back. They sent a link to print a label but, as I explained to them, I do not have a working printer. I also explained that I wasn't able to carry the box to the post office as I injured my shoulder in a car accident. I suggested that they send me the battery and charger which they refused, also to post a label, which they refused, to collect the item, which they refused, or refund the difference, which they refused. They rejected everything I suggested so I contacted trading standards, who for the first time were useless and a waste of time. They have said the only course of action now would be before the courts. As I now have a broken ankle I really don't want the stress of all this. I believe I have been more than reasonable in my offers. Surely this isn't right?I wish I'd read the reviews of them on other websites as there's no way I would have trusted them, many people have been in the same situation as me and cannot get a satisfactory solution. THANKS FOR READING IF YOU GOT THIS FAR!!

You have chosen to buy from abroad so this comes down to German consumer rights, not UK, so of course trading standards can't help!

Have you not got a library that can print the label? Can you not ask for someone else to post it? Borrow a shopping bag on wheels?

They have offered a perfectly reasonable solution...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

They have offered you a remedy (which seems fairly reasonable).

Who was going to use the strimmer?
If you, then presumably you could have taken it to the post office?
If not you, could that other person not have taken it to the post office?

Whoever is going to use the strimmer to do strimming can surely help you carry the box to where it needs to go?

I agree with pinkshoes, they've made a mistake and have proposed a solution for rectifying that. It's not their fault that you are unable to exercise it. They have been entirely reasonable.

And yes, you chose to buy from overseas so you have agreed to be bound by overseas consumer law. Trading Standards can't be expected to be expert in all countries' consumer laws.

    As above .
Are you going to take them to the German courts ??

You need to work around the problems .
surely somebody can print a label for you and somebody can take your parcel for posting .
Not ideal but better than nothing as you have no UK Consumer Rights to help you .
  • At the moment we are still in the E U, Yes I bought the strimmer to use myself when my shoulder recovered but broke my ankle a couple of months after. If I had someone to take it it wouldn't be a problem, I live on my own, fact

You're still bound by German consumer laws, whatever they are.

Unfortunately, even if this were a UK-based retailer you'd have to do your bit to exercise a refund or exchange. They've offered a reasonable solution and whilst some retailers might do more in goodwill, they're not obliged to offer any more than they have.

I echo what others have said. The company are acting reasonably.

This forum is Consumer Rights not Consumer Wants.

Another vote here in the 'they're being perfectly reasonable' camp, I'm afraid.
I can't see a problem with their proposed solution, you must know someone who can print it and help you to the post office with the item.

This country sales are under UK laws and UK Consumer Rights not EU or German laws .

Though i would suggest trying a nice letter explaining your problem and see if they can help .But how can you take that to the Post Office ??
