Faro car hire

Any recommendations or warnings for Faro car hire companies?
Want to collect the car from the terminus (not shuttle bus) and take it to Spain for a couple of days too. I'd prefer to pay more rather than get stuffed by the small print or end up with an old banger.
Any advice would be very gratefully appreciated!! Thank you!

Use the car comparison websites to get an idea of price.
Select full to full for the fuel and on airport for the location.
This should filter out the dirt cheap providers.
Read the small print about taking the car out of the country, sometimes it’s clearer on the car provider’s website than a broker.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Sixt were good when I used them at Faro. We didn't go into Spain though, so don't know what their policy is there.
Pay the small amount extra for the motorway toll transponder unless you're sure you won't be using it - otherwise I understand it's a real pain to pay the tolls.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Look at Zest Car rental. They are an agent for some good rental companies drive4fun etc. Most of their companies work out of P4 at the airport. Commonly known as The Shed. You’ll have to pay 15€ which is required for the airport. I’ve recently used Zest but my rental company was Centauro good cars but they are a shuttle bus ride away.0

We used Goldcar once. Never again.
Centauro we used once and they were great, but they are usually too pricey.
For our last 3 trips to Faro we have used Best Deal. They aren't too pricey. The cars are older, but seem well looked after. They don't operate out of a fancy show room like Centauro, but the service has always been good.0 -
Had good experience with centuro via car rentals in Porto. Also easycars seemed cheap to use.0

Use a main player and book direct, too many issues when you use a broker that’s likely to end up with you paying more.0

We've booked through Luzcars. I haven't actually used them yet we are due to go in late August but I made the decision after reading a lot of reviews and liked the fact that they have an all inclusive price and don't require a credit card.No. 5 in the 'Save 12k for 2021' thread.
