Hard drive or USB thumb/flash drive? Which capacity is it?

Next, you have to decide of the capacity of solid state drive that you want. Currently you have a 931 GB/1 TB HDD.
Do you need that much capacity? How much space is left on the HDD currently? The answer may help you to decide what capacity of solid state drive to purchase.

You can go for a relative cheapie; Lexar NS100 2.5” SATA III (6Gb/s) 480GB Solid-State Drive 480 GB SSD for £36.99

The installation media is on a 16gb flashdrive.
I've bought a hard drive like the one that you linked to earlier, and went for a 500gb one, looking at the space that's left on the current one.
If I've got the wrong thing I can return it and get something else.

I'm sorry, I have to go now - dog throwing up everywhere. I'm out tomorrow night but will be back on Wed evening if you're free then. I can check back in later if there's anything else you need to know.
    Thank you.

    That SSD's a good one.

It's just a simple issue of disconnecting two leads from the back of the old HDD and connecting them to the new SSD. That's it. If there is a space behind the HDD, you can just slot the SSD there. it doesn't need to be fixed to anything. Leave the HDD disconnected for now. We'll see about hooking it up later if you need to move any data over

Make sure that the identical pair of plugs underneath, leading to the DVD drive are properly pressed in. One looks a little wonky in the pic.

Next, to the installation of Windows 10; Plug the USB drive in to the PC and turn it on. A second or two after pressing the power button to turn it on, Press the F11 key, Hopefully, that will open the Boot Menu, wherein you can choose to make the USB Flash drive the one from which to boot.
If it doesn't work, switch the machine off and try again.
If successful, the installation will begin. Just make your choices. It's a Custom Install.
Then use this as a guide to your choices during the install; https://fdossena.com/?p=w10debotnet/index_1903.frag

Done it. Windows is up and running :D

Nowhere really to tuck the new hard drive though so it's floating around in mid air at the moment. Is that a problem?
Away now till next week so will have a go next weekend at putting word etc. back on and customising a bit. Plus all the files off the back up.
Thanks for all the help so far. :)

Mid air is fine. If there is a spare power connector within(one identical to the top one of the ringed pair) we can have the old HDD connected at the same time, if necessary.
If there isn't, but you need some data for it, we can borrow the leads from the optical drive.

If, at the end of it, you no longer trust the old HDD and prefer to remove it to make way for the SSD, you can buy a bracket for a couple of £s. If you like things 'ship-shape and Bristol fashion'; https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/Ssd-Mounting-Bracket/51064/bn_7023445035

A good piece of free software(you pay if you want full function) is Spybot Anti-Beacon; https://www.safer-networking.org/products/spybot-anti-beacon/

Did you reboot and select proper boot device? If not then do it right now, your issue will surely get resolved.
