Help with unexpected flight change

I need help from the forum.
We have been planning and saving for the Rugby world cup in Japan for a long time.
We booked business class flights from Bristol with ANA to Tokyo back in November.
The flights have already been changed once when Flybmi went bust. ANA were really helpful and offered us new flights from London or Bristol using Brussels airlines as a connection. We chose Bristol again.
Last week we got an email saying that Brussels airlines had changed their schedule and we would require a night stopover in Brussels after our ANA flight lands there to get our connection to Bristol.
When we called the airline and said we did not want to stay the night in Brussels (at our expenses as they won't pay) they said we could cancel the tickets and get a refund.
We asked to change to a London flight coming out of Tokyo but they are refusing. If we cancel the tickets the flights to Tokyo are now double the price.
Has anyone any advice. Can they just say tough, you have a stopover it's not our problem?
Thank you in advance

Who did you actually book the ticket with ?
Whoever it is, they seem to have been very fair and flexible so far.
I think your best bet is just to accept the fact you have to spend a night in Brussels.0 -
have a look at the ANA website for Tokyo to Bristol and see if there are better options for your date
Winter schedule starts end October so it looks like they are working through the timetable changes0 -
They do seem to have been very accommodating so far. When you asked for a return flight to London was that it, or did you expect and ask for onward transport between London Heathrow and home/Bristol?0

We don't want anything extra from ANA just to be back on the date we booked. If we return via London we come back the day we expected to and not the following day.0

If you are asking to return into LHR on another ANA flight and not asking or expecting onward transfer to Bristol then I am slightly surprised that they have not accommodated that option. Perhaps try calling them again in the hope that another agent might be more open to helping with that routing.0
