Thanks Jazee for the thread :D

I actually managed to properly "reset" my kitchen last night for the first time in weeks (if not months :o) and it was wonderful to come downstairs to a clean kitchen except for DS's breakfast dishes. :D He's gone off to school for a philosophy exam this morning (3 hour essay writing one apparently) then he's staying in school to get some biology revision done. Once today's is done, he's got just 3 exams left

I have my own list of things to do today (which I won't bore you with as it's a massive list of admin stuff some of which should only take 5 minutes each), but I'm prioritising the livingroom list. There's a layer of dust on everything so I think I'm going to whip Henry out and use the vacuum to get the worst up. I love my new lighter/smaller vacuum but I need to clean the filters on it as it's not picking up properly (also need to add that task to my diary on a regular basis). However I'm going to have to be careful. I walked quite a bit on Saturday while I was out and now my calf muscles are complaining, one wrong move and I'm swearing worse than Chubby Brown  :o Painkillers are being taken now so I can get on, I'll be much better later in the day if yesterday was anything to go by.

Marvellous Monday ~ Living Room, Hall and Stairs
    Level One …
Open the windows and turn on some music!
Clean all mirrors and flat horizontal surfaces
    Level Two…
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean TV, any fluffy electricals and defluff behind the radiators!
Wipe paintwork esp skirting boards and any grubby marks off walls etc
    Level Three …
Wipe all door handles and light switches
Vacuum under any furniture you can.. please don't injure yourselves!
Wash front door inside and out
    Shake out all door mats
    Extras
    • Clear a hotspot or 3! If neccesary, just put in a bag/box to sort out in a HHC
    • Clean light shades/fittings and lamps

DS has changed then remade his bed and he's said he's going to do the ironing this evening while watching revision videos :j So I've got the "to iron" wash on already so I can make sure it's all dry before he gets in :rotfl: Just another 3 loads to do excluding the sofa throws :wall:

I'm going to get on with some of my computer based jobs now. I'll start cleaning stuff around 8.30 I think (I should be sick of hearing nextdoors kids having meltdowns by then :p) and despite the dust, I should be done by 10am ;) Catch you later

Thank you Natty, Valli and Jazee for the listies. Much appreciated - without you we wouldn't be together as a group and it means a lot to me, far more than the post below will seem to indicate.
HB I am in awe of you sorting photos, like you we have loads, loose in a big plastic crate under the stairs, and then another piece of furniture we got when MIL died (2001) that is completely full, not to mention the albums and what's on the computer. For the moment they are out of sight out of mind.

Thank you for that. I hadn't realised this when I started, but inevitably it has thrown up some complicated issues and it has been very, very slow progress for the first week of it. Basically every time it gets difficult I play a game on the computer, put the radio on, take the dog for a walk, or practice any of the other distraction techniques I use when things are challenging.

Today I realised that there are very few photographs of people from the past that have given me a lovely feeling of, 'Ahhhh' when I see them. However, there are a lot of animal photographs that really do mean something to me, and it's rammed home how much I am not really a people person. It's a relief to finally know it, be able to acknowledge it and accept it. I don't want to forget the past or the people, but I do want to feel less bogged down and ensnared by it.

It's why decluttering gets harder. As all the easy stuff - like too many saucepans - is finished one is left with the emotional stuff. After a week of allowing myself to take it at the pace at which I can function, incredibly cathartic. I've been joking that I find being around animals a lot easier than people for years - turns out it was true.
    Better is good enough.

    Hi all

Dailies done including s/s of bathroom, en suite and downstairs loo!
WM x1 done and put on airer with dehumidifier on, doesn’t really need to be done as we have loads of clothes but I can’t stand seeing the wash basket overflowing in the bedroom. Just light stuff so won’t take too long to dry.
Boot full of stuff taken to charity (small boot!)
    Errands run
Morning of paid stuff (just looked at time... make that most of day of paid stuff!!)

After work will do living room and stairs.

Enjoy the rest of your day all.

    Afternoon all.

I got caught up in doing a job on the laptop this morning so I didn't do the cleaning, but I did get 2 loads of laundry washed and hung. I decided to do the livingroom this afternoon but it is still currently on hold due to DS deciding to come home after his exam as he's now asleep on the sofa. I'm going to give him until about 4.30 then wake him up.

Meanwhile I'm going to carry on with quiet computer based jobs. Head is too meh to be making phonecalls (I'm struggling to follow conversations so listening to my audiobooks is also not an option) so half my desk based jobs are postponed as well. I'm going to carry on with my digital declutter of bookmarks and useless files in the hopes I can get on with things tomorrow or Wednesday when it comes to phonecalls. Really starting to get annoyed with this in ability to make calls and due to DSs anxiety he can't even make them for me so I have to struggle through on my better days. :(

LR had a good clean at the weekend so this evening’s job is to sort through the magazine pile that I hoiked out then and left on the floor. So that it might annoy me enough to do something about it.

Dinner cooked. Kitchen given a wipe round and sweep up. Sink cleaned. Lunches made for tomorrow. Recycling out. Towels washed and maybe dry by the end of the week.

It’s still raining and it’s gloomy dark so I think that curled up on the settee is an ideal way to spend this evening.

As well as missing LW, I hope Round is ok too.

Thought I'd pop in to get tomorrows list as I have paid stuff any time from 7.50am depending when my delivery turns up. Today was mostly a bust when it came to jobs, but downtime is just as important as getting things done here so I don't mind.

Kitchen is reset again :j Both loads of laundry from today are dry except for the hood on my hoodie :j DS didn't do the ironing, but there is always tomorrow night. ;)

    Morning all!

What a terrible day again, rain, rain and more rain! Glad to be working from home so don’t have to go out until much later on.

WM swishing, definitely be drying on airer again. Yesterday’s stuff folded and in airing cupboard as all dry. Need to do a quick swish around the kitchen as DH ‘cleared’ up last night and it isn’t quite up to standard. Will do that now I think.

Have to start work early as have a telephone meeting at 8am, also have an appointment after work so must ensure that I finish at 4pm to get there!

Bedroom and bedding was done on the weekend so I think today I will just do the dailies, s/s of bathrooms and probably a bin bag dance.

Right, tea slurped and breakfast eaten, time to move!

    See you later all
