Driving after a TiA

While you get more information & have already done a month without him driving, have you researched alternatives so that the option of hanging up the car keys is available and not too startling?
89 means a lot of experience, but sight, hearing, reaction times, awareness of new hazards (like the pedestrian deaf thanks to their mobile) may not be as sharp as they used to be. Please have a look at possible alternatives before they possibly become mandatory?0 -
Did he have field of view tests whilst in there? The ones that produce a scatter chart-type printout? These can be more important in terms of how DVLA see fitness to drive...
No he didn't - but he had a full vision check a couple of months ago including visual field as he does have slight glaucoma and they check his pressures a couple of times a year. The results were good.ELITE 5:2

Who said on a month? His consultant?
Your husband's consultant said one month- DVLA said 3 months.
Maybe other party didn't ask DVLA but you did so now have to follow what they said.
try phong them again and clarify what he needs to do. You may get a different person who is more forthcoming.
Both consultants and nursing staff said 1 month - and it also says that on the dvla website.
I plan to wait until the forms arrive from dvla later this week and then phone them again for clarification. Apparently they need to forms back within 14days otherwise they will suspend his license. I will have to follow it all through but its not easy to sort out the rules.ELITE 5:2

I have pre-warned DH that , by the time dvla gets its act together, it is possible that he may have to give up driving. It will be a shame especially as he does enjoy driving and, apart from driving long distances which he now finds more tiring, he has not shown any adverse signs. I can drive (I am 13 years younger) but really its better if we can both drive incase I am ill or otherwise not able to drive. DH is not too happy but he is resigned to it if it comes to it. We will be able to work around things even if it means taxis to airports.ELITE 5:2

I had a TIA last year and fortunately haven't had another since.
As your husband has had 2 TIA's he needs to report the matter to the DVLA:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/503539/INF188X3_160216.pdf
"By law you must tell us if any of the following apply: You have had more than one recent stroke
or TIA"
If you are not sure whether any of the above apply to you, discuss the matter with your doctor
As far as the driving is concerned I seem to remember if I had another within a month I needed to report it and inform the DVLA.
However reading this causes some concern with the DVLA:
