yes the tomtom maybe a bit basic compared to others in the same price bracket, but it works.
theres no point in having some fancy clever SW that does everything but wash the dishes, if you cannot get a signal.
good luck though, which ever one you choose in the end.
    Get some gorm.

Right, am officially down to 2 choices - the Navman F20 with TMC kit thingy or the MyGuide one.

I know you're all anti Navman but I have read some good reviews and AutoExpress rated it.

I cannot find the TMC kit anywhere for the MyGuide to buy online so have emailed the manufacturer but if I can get that too I'll probbaly go for the MyGuide.

Tom Tom is a bit too pricey compared to these and it doesn't do much else!

    Cheers for all your replies!

Bear in mind though.....most wire based/connected TMC traffic modules are near useless & not to be relied on, i've had one for my tomtom 510 since december last year & it's only worked twice...once I was sat in a jam it informed me!! I subscribe to tomtom traffic now much easier & results come to sat nav via my mobile phones data connection rather than the wired units that rely on getting a signal via fm radio, My parents have had 2 Navman F20's one replaced due to a fault & the second sold as they found it very confusing to use, and saftey cameras? easy to put onto the tomtom with no extra software/leads etc...navman? you need to purchase software & connection leads to do...voices/maps upgrades easliy done via tomtom home just download what you need, with navman again you need to have purchased all software & connection leads to upgrade map

Here suggests the TMC unit is available for the myguide but at a cost of 150 euros (around £106 ) ...the TMC unit for tomtom argos currently sell for £34.99 which admittedly is the older version, BUT if you purchased and contacted tomtom they will send out a new version TMC receiver free of charge if you send your old unit back.

Ive had a Navman before and i didnt like it and had a few problems with

When I got my last SatNav i got advise from my younger brother who worked in a store that sold GPS units.

His advise was to avoid the Navman units because in general they were the ones that customers were returning the most due to problems.

Tomtom on the other hand were better and they received minimal returns on them.

So I bought a Tomtom ONE V2 which I've had no problems with at all.

It might be worth you paying slightly more and get the TomTom
