Mileage out of sequence on used car

EDIT: excuse my ignorance, but where would Experian get the mileage figures referred to in #1, and why would they differ from HPI - except for some sort of clerical/input error?
EDIT2: And if you resold it, would a buyer look beyond HPI?
Good points Manxman. It seems that experian gets its data from Motability, because the owner had to submit it to them. There was no MOT before September 2016, it's a 2015 model. HPI data is available from time of 1st MOT until today and there's no red flags.
The way I looked beyond HPI is because autotrader has a link that takes you straight to experian, and not to HPI - so I'd expect others to do the same check.0 -
I don't mean to argue, but this wasn't my point. I know about risks and outcomes could vary. All I'm asking for is opinions on whether this discrepancy I uncovered is something to worry about or not, as I've never bought a used car before so I don't know what to look out for
So, yes, a cautious putative buyer in the future could well worry about it, too, to the point of buying a different car.
If that thought concerns you, then quite simply rule it out by buying a different car now. It's a very simply binary choice - buy this car, with the potential mileage question mark - or don't buy this car.0 -
Petrol or diesel? If it is diesel, I would have other more practical concerns. For a car of its age the mileage is very low. This is not necessarily good, especially in the case of a diesel with a DPF0

It's petrol, 4 year old car and the mileage is about 28,000 - I don't have any concerns there0
